This “Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy” (or the “Policy”) describes how we collect, manage, use and protect personal information that we receive from Visitors/Members.

Our handling of information collected about Visitors/Members is regulated by the present ‘’Policy” and is subjected to all applicable national, EU and international laws on the protection of individuals against the processing of personal data.

NOTE: Your wireless operator, mobile operating system provider and/or third-party applications, toolbars, services, “plug-ins”, social media platforms and websites may also collect, use and share information about you and your device and your usage. This “Policy” does not cover any third parties, their products, actions or their services. We cannot control how third parties collect, use or secure your data. What is Personal Data?

"Personal data"  is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person such as identifying information (name, age, residence, profession, marital status, etc.), physical characteristics, education, labor (work experience, work behavior etc.), financial situation (income, assets, economic behavior), interests, activities, habits. The person to whom the data relates is called “Data Subject”. The person who (either alone or jointly or in common with other persons) determines the purposes for which and the manner in which any personal data are, or are to be, processed is called “Data Controller”

What personal data we collect from Members

When you create your account and profile you are asked to provide the following personal data:

Name, Email address, Age, Gender, Photo. We also ask you to authorize the “Check Around App” to collect your Location Data.  This means that we may have access to the real-time geographic location of your device, dates and times that you were at certain locations, where you choose to “check-in”, how close you are to other Member devices.

Other types of personal data and information we collect

  • We may collect information you provide in public areas on our sites and applications.
  • We may collect usage, viewing and technical data, including your device identifier or IP address, when you visit our sites, use our applications on third-party sites or platforms or open emails we send. We collect this information through technology, such as Cookies.

Purpose of personal data processing

The personal data we collect is not processed for any purpose other than those required for our "Services" or to comply with the relevant authorities. In particular, we use personal information for the following purposes:

  • To provide you with products and services that you select. 

About location data in paricular: We use location data to record the Members’ location as a necessary mean in order to determine their proximity to each other and allow virtual meet-ups between those who are in the same area.

  • To communicate with you and manage your requests regarding your account.
  • To send you information about new features and upgrades of the 'Services' our or changes to our policies.
  • To upgrade and improve our products, our services and operations.
  • To identify, investigate and prevent any actions that violate the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and Protection of Personal Data, is fraudulent or illegal.

Personal data visible to other Members

While using our “Services” as a Member the personal data that are listed below will be visible to other registered Members:

- Your Name or Nickname
- Your Age
- Your Gender
- Your Approximate location (coarse location)
- Your Exact location

The “Check Around App” location feature is enabled by default in the "Check Around App" settings. This means that by default other Members can see your approximate location while your exact location is not visible to other Members. If you then choose to "check-in" a specific place (only open to public spaces or venues are available for "check-in"), your exact location will become visible to other Members, more specifically, other Members are able to see the name of the specific place another Members "checks-into". By disabling the “Check Around App” location feature in the "Check Around App" settings, nor your approximate neither your exact location will be visible to other Members.

This data is shared exclusively through the “Check Around App” and the “Check Around Website” and only to the extent necessary for the purposes of our "Services".

Personal data shared with competent authorities

To comply with laws or regulatory requirements and to respond to lawful requests and legal processes we may share your personal data and information to the relevant authorities.

Personal Data shared with third parties

We will not share your  personal data (offered for sale, marketing or other commercial use or otherwise shared) with third parties without your prior knowledge and consent.

Personal Data and Information you choose to share

Our Services allow you to connect, and share your information publicly or with people you specify. Please be mindful of your own privacy needs as you choose who to connect with and what to share and make public. We cannot control the privacy or security of information that you choose to make public or share with others. We also cannot control and are not responsible for any Third-Party Sharing Services or their actions, including the data that these Third-Party Sharing Services collect from you and your device, or how they use such data. Please review the privacy policies of all Third-Party Sharing Services to understand their privacy practices.

What type Cookies we may use

  • Technical cookies: We use technical cookies to show you our website, to make it function correctly, to create and manage your Member account. These technical cookies are absolutely necessary for our website to function properly.
  • Functional cookies: We also use functional cookies to remember your preferences and to help you to use our website efficiently and effectively, for example by remembering your preferred language. These functional cookies are not strictly necessary for the functioning of our website, but they add functionality for you and enhance your experience.
  • Analytics cookies: We use these cookies to gain insight into how our Visitors use the website, to find out what works and what doesn't, to optimize and improve our website and to ensure we continue to be interesting and relevant. The data we gather includes web pages you have viewed, which web pages you have entered and left from, which platform type you have used, date and time information, the number of clicks you make on a given page while using our website. Data Security, Integrity and Retention

The security, integrity and confidentiality of your information are extremely important to us. We implement technical, administrative and physical security measures, designed to protect guest information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use and modification. Occasionally, we review our security measures and procedures to improve our technology and methods. Please be aware though that, despite our best efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. We will retain your personal information for the length of time needed to fulfill the purposes of the Services, as described in this Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is defined by law.

Changes to this Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy

From time to time, we may change without previous notice this “Policy” to accommodate regulatory requirements, new technologies, or improve our services. We will provide notice to Visitors/Members if these changes are material and, where required by applicable law, we will obtain their consent.

As Visitors / Members, you are requested to check regularly the present terms for any changes, as continued use of this site and its web application implies that you accept all these possible amendments.

What are your  rights as Members/Visitors in respect of your personal data

Right of information

When someone asks you to give your personal data, you have the right to be informed of his identity, for what purpose they are used, and who may access them.

You have the right of access to any personal data held about you by a data controller.

Right to object

You have the right to ask for the deletion or correction of your personal data, when you consider that the information may harm you, or is incorrect or if you do not agree with the processing of these data.
